a lack of technology

My laptop sputtered, collapsed, and is now comatose, so now I have no computer at home and no internet. This means that when I go home, I feel the wrath of an abundance of time and boredom.

And so, I type this now from an internet and comic book cafe, feeling the cool breezes of the air conditioner and the sound of smattering keyboards from the speakers.

This particular internet cafe is the nicest one I’ve encountered thus far. It has leather couches near the front window, which means no smoky booths and squeaky seats for me today. The clientele also seems a bit more upscale. Fifty percent of the customers appear to be women (compare this to 10% in a normal internet cafe), and a man sitting near the front is wearing a rather lavish ensemble. His outfit is all-black with a collar bedecked in silver diamond-shaped objects and what appear to be large crystal jewels.

However, the computers are positioned awkwardly in relation to the chairs, and I have to lean forward constantly. My neck is in great pain.

But I guess this is the price I have to pay for a well-cushioned chair and a comatose laptop.

fallen on bookish days

July 2, 2009

Lust struck in the bookstore once again. I twitched. I went a bit dizzy.

And now I have two new books in my possession.

To the left is Ume Kayo’s book of photographs, Danshi (男子), which I have wanted for awhile.

To the right is Dandelion – a book of photographs by Takahashi Yoko of actress Aoi Yu traveling through Russia on the Trans-Siberian Railway. (You can see some photographs from the book here)

Of course, Dandelion was purchased on superficial inclinations. Aoi Yu is very pretty, and the clothes, colors, & setting lull me into lip-biting whimsy.

Working on a new project, so my floor and desk have fallen on gloomily disorganized days. Details soon.

Saw ASA-CHANG&巡礼 in concert the other day, and how rare! I feel invigorated about music again.
