thats an interesting question. i usually draw whats in front of me. i want to draw more from memory or imagination but usually i just draw whats there. so in that obvious way my drawing changes from one place to the next.
i noticed that even if i just draw a line on a page just to try out a pencil or something, even that makes me feel peaceful. i think it’s something pretty basic. like the same way a monkey would feel drawing with a finger in the dirt.

i think that is a good mindset to have. i feel peaceful when i draw, too. i think it has something to do with the obsessive compulsiveness i can releash in drawings. i wonder what experiences you have.

i wonder how much location factors into things, too. do you think your drawings have changed while you’ve been in hong kong? i remember when i was in sydney, my ability to draw grew and grew and somehow was very precise. in tokyo, i drew, but there was nothing good. here, i draw in a more messy fashion, but it merrily swells inside me.

i also wish i could say i’m drawing lots. but am only thinking lots about lots of drawings that i could be doing. i was thinking that if i kept drawing always i would always feel pretty peaceful. and as long as i don’t stop, never a sense of failure.
